Straight Drive, Scoop and Indian Maiden !..

And so Crickets youngest kid has produced another surprise..... The Indian men tried their best ... but Jhulan's lasses are in the semis facing the mighty Kiwis ...can the talented Indian women win the first T20 world cup...Let's pray they do !...

Meanwhile the mens semis are about to commence and it doesn't matter whether it is a batsmen's delight at Oval, spinners paradise at TrentBridge, and bounces at The Lords...What matters is cricketing temperament, individual brilliance, some team work and lots of luck!..

The pundits are predicting Proteas V/s Lanka in the finals...and why not...both teams are well balanced...and for a change SA relies on 3 spinners - Botha, Van Der Merwe and part timer Dumminy and their batting runs deep....but can Graeme Smith and his boys shed away their'choker' tag !...Gibbs has yet to come to the party, Dumminy is elegant, Kallis and Boucher determined, Morkel and AB Devilliers have the capability to singlehandedly change the course of match.

New skipper Sanghakarra is well prepared and their batsmen Jaywardhene and Jayasuria are in divine form. Malinga slings with pace while Murali and Mendis are eager to weave magic and restore some happiness among their countrymen tortured by conflict for several decades..

Having said that its time we witness the grand finale between two resurgent teams - West Indies and Pakistan. Cricket can never be entertaining without these two countries.

Chris Gayles comments about ending test matches would make C.L.R.James turn in his grave but his batting ensures Caribbean win ; promises to preclude the boys back home from chasing basketball, soccer and resurrect the West Indian glory. Lets hope they quickly produce fast bowlers like their former greats. Fortunately Pakistan is blessed with pace and Younis Khan has the courage to speak his mind.

It's a pleasure to watch the talented Younis play straight and his off drives, reverse sweep, glance and flick are absolute treat to the eyes. Misbah has a compact stance and lets hope he doesn't scoop another catch rather cup. The youngsters can definitely deliver. Perhaps a win might help the Pakistani public to momentarily forget feudalism, Taliban, and its illusory democracy.

Meanwhile India prepares to tour the Caribbean islands .. the boys deserve some holidays and the short tour promises them surf, sand, sea and unfortunately lot of short pitch stuff....hope they include Nayyar,Jaffar, Badri in the side and quickly learn to tackle the short pitch stuff ....

It is pointless to blame 19 year old Jadeja and Dhoni. Dhoni is a marvellous player and a courageous skipper and he cannot win every match. It is wise to be little conservative. Unlike bowlers, batsmen mature like wine....and it is necessary Jadeja spends more time in domestic circuit. Moreover the englishmen were determined to win ....come on its a Gentlemans game after all and you win some , lose some, isn't it?

Lets hope and pray that the Indian womens team clinch the cup and even if they lose in semis, they deserve a good reception .. hey how about Womens - IPL ?..Any takers....

Until then....enjoy the matches...and wait for the Wimbledon
